Trenutno postoji osam svežnjeva kartica organizovanih po temama: alfabet, boje i oblici, brojevi, emocije, javni prevoz, kuća, ljudi u pokretu, moj novčanik (imitira pravu “odraslu” verziju novčanika).

Fe-no-me-nal-no 🙂

SO AWESOME wallet – sized cards made for kids, are brain child of Marie-Claire Camp, graphic designer mom from Miami. After having her 18-month old twins constantly asking for and chewing on any plastic-card-type object (especially her credit and debit cards or driving licence), Marie-Claire decided to design educational and free from all nasty things toy (cards are non-toxic, bpa and phthalate free).

After doing her research on materials, production, design and funding, Marie-Claire presented her idea to some big publishing and toy companies. Since nothing has happened on that front she moved on to plan B – Kickstarter. The campaign was successful and as a result first 1000 decks of cards were out (they are made from durable, biodegradable, non-toxic, food-safe plastic and on top of that printed with non-toxic ink and coatings, all in America).

At the moment there are eight different sets of cards organised by themes: alphabet, colors and shape, house, go!cards, numbers, emotion, public transport and “My wallet” (mimics the proper “adult” wallet).

This would probably be yet another innovative and inspirational toy that team from So Awesome does not offer a real goldmine of ideas how to use and play with their cards – there are printables, videos, apps, links and books (all organised in age groups) that will lead you to more ideas on how to help your child learn trough play. This is actually the best part since these cards “reinvent” themselves since they can be used in so many different ways.

The fact that these cards are extremely durable (yet not indestructible:)) put them in a group with those toys that can be easily passed down to second, third….child, friends’ or neighbors’ children or local kindergarten.

Plastic ring that holds cards together is re-closable so you could add more cards or divide them between kids. There is also (brilliant) option to get a single card (as we all know some toys have their own “mysterious” ways of disappearing).

These decks of cards are great travel companion (light and compact, easily cleaned toy – yes, please!) and  your very good friend in any type of queue or waiting room.

If you are screen pro oriented parent, SO AWESOME has developed an iOS app (which is free on iTunes) that is aimed for kids between two and six.

SO AWESOME offers global shipping, and also has two European stockists – in Slovakia  (shopify.ollie.sk) and UK (smallprint-online.com).

We have been playing with our Alphabet deck for around fortnight and is still quite interesting and fun – we have also “tested” it in a waiting room, in a few supermarket check out queues and a short trip:). We love it – bravo for this great idea and another successful mompreneur!
