Almond and cocoa energy balls / Kuglice od badema i kakaoa

Recently I have been trying to come up with healthier alternatives to chocolate, cakes and other typical desserts. Of course, it goes without saying, that fruit is by far the best option but when requests for dessert become very frequent this is what I have been offering lately. I have discovered these delicious almond and cacao energy balls over on Deliciously Ella’s website and was thrilled to find how quick and easy to make they are – perfect for all busy mamas out there.

You will need only five ingredients:

  • 200gr almond/almond flour (1 cup)
  • 400gr pitted dates (2 cups)
  • 4 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (I replaced it with extra virgin olive oil)

Place the almonds in a food processor and pulse until desired consistency, then add dates and pulse until they turn into smooth paste. Add oil, cocoa powder and almond butter and mix until everything comes together (you can play around with ingredients and add some dry fruits of your choice, replace almonds with hazelnuts etc.).

Depending on the size you are going for take the mixture and roll into ball – we got around twenty medium sized (two bites) balls.

Bare in mind that although these energy balls are healthy option they are still calorie packed so keep a careful eye on a cheeky pair of hands:)

U poslednje vreme se trudim da pronađem zdravije alternative uobičajenim desertima, naročito otkad su zahtevi za desertom postali učestaliji:). Naravno da je voće i voćni kolači najzdravija opcija ali kada se odlučimo za “ozbiljniji” slatkiš, u poslednjih nekoliko nedelja su to ove energetske kuglice od badema i kakaoa. Recept sam pronašla na sajtu Deliciously Ella i savršene su za mame koje su u stisci sa vremenom, mogu da stoje dugo, ne uključuju pečenje…the list goes on!

Potrebno je:

  • 200gr badema ili bademovog brašna (1 šolja)
  • 400gr urmi (bez koštica)
  • 4 kašike kakaa
  • 2 1/2 kašike puter od badema
  • 2 kašike kokosovog ulja (zamenila maslinovim uljem za salate)

Usitnite bademe u blenderu (ili ako koristite brašno od badema dodajte u prethodno usitnjene urme), dodate urme. Kada urme formiraju pastu bez komadića dodate kakao, puter i ulje i mešate dok se sve ne sjedini (naravno, možete dodati i razno suvo voće, kokos, zameniti bademe lešnicima i sl. – pustite mašti na volju).

Od dobijene mase pravite kuglice – mi smo dobili oko 20 kuglica srednje veličine (dva zalogaja:)). Čuvajte ih u frižideru u zatvorenoj posudi.

Zapamtite, iako su ovo “zdrave” kuglice i dalje su prepune kalorija (koje dolaze od urmi, badema…), tako da obratite pažnju kojom brzinom nestaju :).
